The “Torre di Azzano” structure is composed of several buildings which were erected at different times around the medieval tower of Azzano. The tower was originally built in 1400 by the people of Spoleto in order to defend the communal boundaries against the people of the castle of Beroide. The massive square based structure was modified at the beginning of the XVIII century and used for grain storage; due to the abundance of spring waters in the area, two mills were built right by the tower, for the production of flour and olive oil. They were powered by the running water brought by a canal, and are still there to be admired.
